Web 2.0 Technologies

Hello Everyone,

My name is Anita High. I am enrolled through the College of Education seeking a Bachelor’s Degrees of Science in Business Education/Information Technologies.  I am taking BITE 5390: 2.0 Web Technologies to complete one of the core credit requirements of my degree program; this is my senior year and I hope to complete all requirements for graduation by the end of the Fall 2014 semester!

From an educational, career, and personal standpoint, I want to continuously learn about new Web 2.0 tools that are currently being used on the World Wide Web. As a 100% online distance education student acquiring a degree in Information Technologies, it is extremely important that I am not only able to interact and participate in the learning environment using these technologies as a student, but it is also equally important that I fully understanding how the latest technologies are being used to support teaching and learning in classrooms as well as how they are being used for personal endeavors and in the social media.

My first impression of the overall nature and concept of Web 2.0 was that it’s essentially a variation of software programs that are used to create and support different types of virtual learning environments. I quickly learned that it is much more than that.  Web 2.0 supports communication and cultivates web relationships in all areas, on any topic! These technologies not only provides interactive ways of communication that strengthen the educational learning environment, they also provides easy accessible means of invoking conversation and disseminating information on any issue or topic of interest of a personal and professional level.  As web technologies continues to evolve, it is increasingly becoming an essential and integral part of the educational environment at all learning levels of the 21st Century.

  1. Anita, I to have learned so much more about WEB 2.0 in this short time in class. Not to mention the fact I have never read a blog or even posted in one. Now I have made my own and have posted in someone else blog. I guess I am learning how to cultivate relationships myself.
